3 July 2012 -- Troy

After lunch and a ferry ride across the Dardanelles to the Asian side, we visited Troy. There is a replica of the Trojan horse. The site was first excavated by a German professor and his student wife. The Schliemanns discovered a trove of gold, and it was carted first to Greece and then to Berlin. The Soviet army took it from Poland and it is now housed in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.

I will add pictures from our visit to the site posted when I return to SC!
