Bursa was the capital of the Ottoman Empire until the conquest of Constantinople (Istanbul).
Our lunch was at iskender (Alexander) Restaurant. While eating here, the governor of the province and a government minister made an appearance. The minister left shortly after we did and had to fly to eastern Turkey. Heavy rains caused a dam to burst and there were casualties. As you can imagine, the press was there to mark the visit, as well as security.
Outside the restaurant was a botanic garden, which afforded a pleasant walk after a nice lunch.
